Saturday

MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP- $450 - 

SPRING SESSION: Saturday 10:00 - 1:00pm - Jan. 25 – March. 29

Ages 7-18

Act! Sing! Dance! and learn it all at MT Workshop! Young artists will rotate through an hour in each musical theatre discipline to learn technique and rehearse for a final performance! This all-encompassing class is designed to build confidence, learn how to work as an ensemble, and put it all into practice with a final workshop presentation for friends and family at the end of the 10-weeks. 

 

This Winter/Spring, MT Workshop will explore Seussical, Kids! Join us for this story full of whimsy, heart, and our favorite story book characters. 

MT Workshop will take place in the classrooms at Durham Friends Meeting house at 404 Alexander Ave., Durham, NC 27705. 

 

The final two days, March 22nd and March 29th , will take place at Durham Arts Council for the final presentation in PSI Theatre at DAC.

Monday

MUSICAL THEATRE MADNESS

WINTER SESSION: Mondays - Jan. 13-Mar. 3rd- 5:15-6:15pm

Ages 8-12

Act! Sing! Dance! And learn it all in this weekly class designed to explore what it means to be a triple threat! Learn how to bring a character to life in scene work, tell a story through dance, and put it all together while singing! This class ends in a presentation.

MUSICAL THEATRE MASH-UP 

SPRING SESSION: Mondays - Mar. 17 - May 12 (No class 3/31) - 5:15-6:15pm
Ages 8-12  

Get ready to sing, act, and create in this exciting class where musical theatre meets imagination! Students will learn a classic or contemporary musical theatre song, and then put their own twist on it by creating an entirely new story inspired by the lyrics and themes. Through a mix of acting exercises, song interpretation, and collaborative storytelling, participants will bring their own unique production to life. This class is perfect for young performers ready to explore their creativity and step into the world of musical theatre in a fun, inventive way!

PAGE TO PERFORMANCE - $112

WINTER SESSION: Tuesdays - Jan. 14th -Mar. 4th- 5:15-6:15pm

Ages 8-12

Unleash your creativity and dive headfirst into the vibrant world of performance. In this class, young artists will hone skills while bringing characters to life. Through collaboration, improvisation, and character development, young artists will explore stage presence, voice projection, and ensemble techniques to bring a performance from page to stage.  This class will end in a presentation.

IMPROV! - $112

WINTER SESSION: Tuesdays - Jan. 14th -Mar. 4th- 6:30-7:30pm

Ages 13-18

No script? No problem! Students will explore improv techniques and games for quick thinking and build acting skills that explore creative risk-taking. 

MYTHICAL HEROES OF THE STAGE - $112

SPRING SESSION: Tuesdays - Mar. 18th - May 13th (No class 4/1) - 5:15-6:15pm

Ages 8-12

Delve into the vibrant world of Greek mythology, where legendary heroes and timeless tales come to life! Inspired by modern adaptations like Percy Jackson, this class will explore the rich narratives and character archetypes found in ancient myths. Exploring themes of bravery, adventure, and transformation, young artists will bring to life favorite scenes and stories inspired by these larger than life stories. This class will end in a final sharing on the last day.

DIRECTING - $112
WINTER SESSION: Tuesdays - Mar. 18th - May 13th (No class 4/1) - 6:30-7:30pm

Ages 13-18

Ever wondered if you've got a director's eye? This class will explore what it means to be a director! Learn how to analyze text and bring it to life as a director. All students will work as both actors and directors in this class and end in a final presentation!

WEDNESDAY

ADVENTURES IN ACTING - $112
WINTER SESSION: Wednesdays - Jan. 15 - Mar. 5th - 4-5pm

Ages 5-7

Budding young artists will take an adventure through creative drama in this high-energy acting class. Students will use their imaginations through dramatic play to bring an adventurous story to life! This class will end in a presentation at the end of the session.

TWISTED FAIRY TALES -  $112
WINTER SESSION: Wednesdays - Jan. 15 - Mar. 5th - 5:15-6:15 - Ages 8-12

Discover what really happened Once Upon A Time! You know the classics, but in this class we’ll flip it, twist it, and make them our own! Students will explore creating dynamic stories and characters using classic fairy tales as our inspiration! This process will foster imagination,nurture self-confidence, and teach students how to work as an ensemble. This class will end in an in-class presentation of the original stories students create! This is a Vault Theatre class favorite! No class is the same!

DREAM BIG DRAMA - $112
SPRING SESSION: Wednesdays - Mar. 19th - May 14th (No class 4/2) - 4-5pm

Ages 5-7

Young artists will unlock their imaginations and dream big in this interactive theatre class! Students will explore bigger than life stories and create dynamic characters to perform original scenes inspired by our favorite stories! This process fosters the imagination, nurtures self-confidence, and has each young actor working in an ensemble!  This class will end in an in-class presentation!

ACTOR'S TOOLBOX - $112
SPRING SESSION: Wednesdays - Mar. 19th - May 14th (No class 4/2) - 5:15-6:15pm

Ages 5-7

What skills does an actor need to shine? This class will explore what it means to be an artist and how to build your toolbox! Learn how to use voice, body, and imagination to bring a character to life! Learn focus and how to work in an ensemble to rehearse scenes for a final sharing of the work! This class will end in a final sharing on the last day.

MUSICAL ADVENTURES - $112
WINTER SESSION: Thursdays - Jan. 16 - Mar. 6th  - 4:30-5:30

Ages 5-7 

Imagination knows no bounds in this high-energy musical theatre class. Young artists will explore the joy of acting, singing, and dancing through interactive games and storytelling! Each week, participants will embark on a new musical journey, learning favorite songs, delightful choreography, and developing their confidence on stage. This class ends in a presentation. 

BROADWAY DANCE PARTY - $112
SPRING SESSION: Thursdays - Mar. 20th - May 15th (No class 4/3) - 4:30-5:30pm 

Ages 5-7 

This lively class is designed for young performers where the excitement of Broadway comes to life through movement, music, and fun! Each session will feature upbeat songs and choreography, allowing young artists to express themselves while learning basic dance techniques. Through playful games and creative movement, students will build their confidence and coordination in a supportive environment.

FAQs

How do I register? 

Click the register button next to the class you're interested in registering for. 

Musical Theatre Workshop class will take you to Vault Theatre's booking form. Follow the prompts to register. 

For all other classes that are held at Durham Arts Council, the Register button will take you to DAC's registration system through CivicRec. 

Here is how to register from there: 

  • If you have never registered for a class with DAC, you will need to create an account.

  • From there, on the top line toggle to the class sessions you're looking for i.e. Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring. Click on the session you're looking for. It will open up categories. 

  • All of Vault Theatre's classes in the  "Youth/Teen" Category so scroll to the bottom where you see this title. 

  • Click on Youth/Teen Performing Arts and it will drop down the list of all the classes in this category. All of Vault Theatre's classes are listed here.
