CIELO GOMEZ

Cielo Gomez is a film and stage actor from Bailey, North Carolina. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with both University and Departmental Honors with a B.A. in Theatre Performance from Appalachian State University. Throughout her education, she performed in several mainstages, club shows, and student films. She could be seen as Peta in Five Mile Lake and Everybody in Everybody. Her favorite parts of her college career include being a part of new works such as In Between the Panels, produced by the Playcrafters club, The COVID Chronicles which was performed live on Zoom during the pandemic, Kent State: Then, and Again, written by her former professor and thesis advisor, and Y(our) Story, which is an annual production that takes mental health stories from the Boone community and turns them into performance pieces. Other memorable performances for her include the Appalachian Musical Theatre Club’s annual Halloween Ball and taking part in Acapellageddon during her first year.

During her time at App State, Cielo also wrote a play, Doble Vida, as part of her Honors thesis. This play was chosen by NYU as a part of their 2022 Seeing Ourselves on Stage: Amplifying Global Majority Voices in TYA mentorship program, part of NYU Steinhardt's New Plays for Young Audiences (NPYA) series. Outside of university, Cielo could also be seen as Megan Jones in the first east coast production outside of Broadway of Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic (The Singers Studio). Being a fan of the Harry Potter series, this role is one of her favorites. Most recently, Cielo was able to share her love of horror by performing as a scare actor in the 2022 season at Darkside Haunted Estates. To round out her love of scary movies, Cielo also recently starred in Buried Hatchet Productions’ short horror film, Withered, available on Youtube.

When not performing, Cielo can be found barista-ing it up at her local coffee shop, reading a book in the sunshine, or watching movies with her three younger sisters.

Cielo is so excited and thankful to be a part of Vault Theatre’s first Theatre for Young Audiences production! She cannot wait to be back on the stage and to share the love and magic of theatre with youth by bringing The Girl Who Swallowed a Cactus to life.
