Flora Bare is a former USA National Champion, nine-time All-American and Cal Aggie Athletic Hall of Fame gymnast from the University of California, Davis. She received her MFA from the London International School of Performing Arts in Lecoq-based physical theater and has lived, trained and been a theater and circus performer and maker in California, New York, Italy, Uruguay and London. She has performed as an actor for The Royal Opera House and was the dance captain and aerialist for the 2012 Olympic Festival with the New York Company, STREB. Flora was a tumbling and conditioning instructor at The National Center for Circus Arts in London and is an award-winning choreographer for Northern California Women’s Gymnastics Association.

Flora Bare has recently moved from Chicago where she was an adjunct professor of movement at The Theatre School at DePaul University for the MFA and BFA Acting as well as the BFA Comedy Arts students. Flora was also an adjunct professor at Columbia College, Chicago and an acrobatic instructor for the professional training program at The Actors Gymnasium. She has been awarded directing residencies at Links Hall in 2019 and in 2022 at Facility Theatre, Chicago. Flora’s particular focus as a performer, director, educator and creator is on highly physical and daring storytelling through a devised, collaborative process.
